William H. Suckel, age 94, Ashtabula, died Wednesday at the Ashtabula Co. Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 30, 1924 in Martins Ferry, the son of Charles & Victoria (Furance) Suckel and has been an area resident most of his life. He was married to Katherine M. Baker on October 14, 1950.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, a Corporal in the 69th Infantry-880 Fuel Artillery in Germany during World War II. Mr. Suckel is a retired employee of the Olin Corp. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ashtabula, the VFW Post #943 and was an avid reader and gardener.

Survivors include two sons, Mark (Gayle) Suckel and Charles Suckel, both of Ashtabula and a grandson, Adam Suckel. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Katherine in 2010, brothers, Frank, Joseph, Charles & John and sisters, Mary Dragon, Helen Ellvey, Victoria Evan and Ann at birth. Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd.

, Ashtabula with the Rev. Christine Bell of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Services will begin with the VFW Post #943 rendering military honors.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service. Private burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens. The Fleming & Billman Funeral Homes and staff are privileged to serve the William Suckel family.
