Obituary for William J. “Bill” Groth Jr. William J. Groth Jr., the seventh child of William Groth Sr. and Johanna M. Groth nee Tacke, passed away in Naples, FL on April 15, 2018. He was born on August 8, 1926 in Ardsley, NY where he lived with parents, his grandmother, and 9 siblings. After graduating from the Ardsley High School in 1944, William enlisted in the Navy and served in the South Pacific during WWII.

He married Alice Schwartz on October 31, 1948 and had 2 children, Billy and Laurie. Alice and William shared 69 ½ years of marriage. They have 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

William joined the Ardsley Police Department in 1954 and rose to the rank of Lieutenant before retiring in 1985. His son Billy also served in the same department. He was a long time member of the Ardsley Methodist Church and served as chairman of the Board of Trustees.

They retired to Florida in 1985. They joined First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, where William will be interred in Resurrection Garden. Online condolences may be offered to the family by visiting www.
