William E. Night William E. Night, 102, passed away at his home in Binghamton on Monday April 30th. He was born in Fulton, NY and was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Dewey Night. He is survived by his daughters: Sally Bode, her daughter Stephanie and Scott Kuehn, (Grace and Carsten): daughter Martha Night and Norman D. “Rick” Gebler; their daughters Rebecca and Stephen Miller (Sophie and Jack), Elizabeth and Douglas Griswold (Chase and Emmelyn), Kathryn and Derek Spitzer (Elle, Peyton and Eve).

Mr. Night graduated from Syracuse University, earned his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law and was admitted to the Bar in 1938 beginning his career as a trial lawyer associated with the firm of Lee, Levine, O’Brien and Kramer in Binghamton. Following military service he rejoined the firm of Kramer, Night and Wales. In 1955 he formed Night and Keller.

He served in the Navy during WW II as the Executive Officer of the ocean mine sweeper USS Heed in the Pacific Theatre. He was transferred to the Naval Reserve Retired List with the Rank of Commander. Mr. Night was a member of the American Bar Association, New York Bar Association and the Broome County Bar Association.

He was Chairman of the Committee on Professional Standards Third Judicial Department; Member of the National Panel of the American Arbitration Association 1965; Trustee Supreme Court Library, Broome County; Federal District Court, Committee for Alternative Dispute Resolution; Committee for Surrogate Medical Decision; American Arbitration Association (National): Chairman, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Town of Binghamton 1967 – 1976. The family will receive friends Friday May 25 from 2 – 4 p.m. at Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home, 71 Main Street, Binghamton. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Cazenovia.
