William R. Cooke, Jr., 85, died peacefully on May 4, 2018. Born in Greenwich, NY, he was the only child of the late William R. and Margaret E. (Kelso) Cooke. He graduated from Greenwich Central High School in 1950, then joined the United States Marine Corps at age 17 and served as a Sergeant with the 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953.

He was wounded in Korea and lost his sight in one eye. On June 6, 1953, Bill married Betsy, his high school sweetheart who always referred to him as her “bridge over troubled waters”. He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University and retired as Vice President of Operations with Ludlow Textiles Co., Inc. in 1996, after 36 years of service.

He was an active member of Brigham Lodge AF and AM in Ludlow. Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Betsy (Ketchum) Cooke in 2009. He will be sadly missed by his two sons; Robert Cooke of Acton and David Cooke of Georgetown and two granddaughters; Marisa and Hayley.

In addition to his wife, he was also predeceased by his son Scott Cooke in 1973. Funeral Services will be held THURSDAY at 11 AM at the WILBRAHAM FUNERAL HOME, 2551 BOSTON RD. , Wilbraham, MA.

A Calling Hour will be held THURSDAY from 10 to 11 AM. Burial will follow in Woodland Dell Cemetery in Wilbraham.
