William Robert Myers, 88, of Bellevue passed away peacefully, following a short illness surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at The Bellevue Hospital. He was born September 5, 1930 in Conneaut, Ohio the son of Charles and Edna (York) Myers. Bill was a graduate of Conneaut High School.

He entered the United States Air Force and served from 1948-1952. Near the end of his enlistment he was approached to join the USAF basketball team which he gladly accepted and played games in France and Germany going 10-0 during his time. He was discharged from the Air Force as a Staff Sgt.

and Diesel Mechanic. Bill was an electrician and worked in Conneaut for the Pittsburgh and Conneaut Dock Co., retiring in 1984 as an Electrical Supervisor. In 1985, he and his wife relocated to Arizona.

During that time, he worked for the San Diego Padres during spring training as a transportation supervisor. One fond memory from his time was getting to know famous country singer, Garth Brooks while at spring training. Around 2006, he and his wife moved to Bellevue, Ohio to be near his family and grandchildren.

He was a member of Eagles Aerie 490, Bellevue. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid Browns and Indians fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He will be remembered by all for his kindness and politeness, always stating “if you treat people with kindness and respect, they will do the same for you”. He was a pillar of strength and courage to his family during his two-year fight with metastatic cancer, which he would prevail over. Bill is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gloria A. (Stanley), whom he married November 22, 1952 in Conneaut; Daughter, Gail (Duane) Myers of Bellevue; Son, Scott (Heather) Myers of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren: Doug (Jennifer) Myers of Bellevue and Jeff (Laura) Myers of Wilmington, Ohio; 4 great grandchildren: Reese and Evan Myers of Bellevue and Andy and Hailey Myers of Wilmington; and a sister, Marijane (Fred) Glantz of Bonita Springs, FL.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Edna Myers. Friends will be received on Friday, March 8, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. A private service and burial with Military Honors will be held.
