Obituary for William “Tommy” Wood William “Tommy” Wood, 82 born to Russell Guy & Madge Nation Shue Wood, on September 30, 1936 at Nimrod Hall Virginia, left us October 4, 2018. He entered the USAF June 1955. He was very proud of his country and served in the military for 25 years.

Retired as a Master Sargent Air Traffic Controller. He also worked for the City of Staunton for 3 years, 11 years at the Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, 21 years at PAA part-time and at York Senior Center. He was still working up until the end of June 2018 at the age of 81.

Tommy is survived by his wife Barbara Wood of 58 years. A son Robbie Wood, wife Tracy Son, Jerry Wood, Daughter Lisa Edwards & Husband Eddie, daughter Tammie Saunders & Husband Davy, Daughter Kimberly Soto. 9 grandchild, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Robert “Bob” Wood, Gerald Wood, Russell Wood, and 1 sister Helen W. Cauley. A service will be held at Horeb Baptist Church at 11am on Monday October 8, 2018. Interment will follow at Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery.

A Memorial to Honor his life and work will be held at a later date in Newport News, Va. The family will welcome friends & family at the home of Lisa & Eddie Edwards in Goshen, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to DAV.
