Obituary for Mr. Wilman Lester Harpe Wilman entered this life on November 16, 1936 in Edison, Georgia. He was born to Emory Harp and Lessie Hanks. Wilman began working for many reputable companies as heavy equipment operators.
Later in life he married Eloise Jones from Morgan, Georgia. They were united in holy matrimony for 56 years. Years later they moved to Tildenville, Florida and Wilman became employed for South Lake Apopka Citrus Grovers where he worked his way up to Foreman.
All during Wilman’s life he always had a passion for helping those less fortunate than he. Wilman’s doors were always open to house, feed and clothe the homeless. He was a husband, father, loving grand-father, faithful checker player and a beloved friend to the homeless.
He will forever be loved and forever in our hearts. Wilman joined Tildenville Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and attended services regularly. Years later he joined New Inspiration Missionary Baptist Church in Winter Garden, Florida under the leadership of his nephew, Dr. David Harpe.
Wilman was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Jones Harp, parents, Emory Harp and Lessie Hanks, sons, Edgar Harp and Milton Lee; sisters and brothers, Mary Wakefield, Mae Pearl McCory, J. P. Harpe, H.M. Harpe Sr., Charlie Harpe Sr., Carlton Harpe and Roger Harpe; brother-in-law, John McCory; sister-in-law, Nina Harpe. Wilman’s legacy will be cherished, loved and remembered thru his family, friends and loved one’s. Those left to cherish his precious memories are: his children, Wilburn Harpe (Felicia) of Deland, Florida, Gloria Davis of Arlington, Georgia, Willie Harpe of Deland, Florida, Faye Harpe -Maddox (Robert) of Orange City, Florida, Danice Harpe of Deland, Florida, Hugo Harpe of Deland, Florida, Patricia Harpe of Deland, Florida; daughters-in-law, Cherise Harpe of Jacksonville, Florida and Angela Lee of Atlanta, Georgia; sister and brothers; Mary (LuRee) Harpe of Apopka, Florida, aunt, Marie Hanks of Blakely, Georgia; brothers-in- law; David Jones Sr. of Sanford, Florida, Elijah Jones of Sanford, Florida; sisters-in-law, Alice Harpe of Albany, Georgia, Louise Harp of Winter Garden, Florida, Mary Harpe of Winter Garden, Florida, Eulah Thornton of Jacksonville, Florida; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great-great grand child, nieces, nephews, cousins and other sorrowing friends.
