Wynema’s Obituary Wynema E. Verrett, age 95, of Fulshear, Texas, went to be with her Lord surrounded by her loving family. Time for her family to receive friends will be Sunday, February 17, from 6 to 7 pm at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be Monday, February 18, at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Boswell, Oklahoma.

Guests are invited to join the family for a meal at First Baptist, Boswell, at 1:00 pm, following a brief graveside service. Wynema (known by some as Wy) was born July 31, 1923, to Elmer and Della (Witt) Self in Boswell, Oklahoma. She met the love of her life, Wallace Verrett, while he was stationed at Fort Sill and she was working at Tinker Air Force Base during World War II.

They spent the next 34 years moving to many different states with Wally’s job and raising their family. They enjoyed lots of square dancing, bowling, and gardening together, and Wynema loved being helpful as a hospital volunteer. In 1982, Wynema and Wally retired to their homestead – and Wynema’s childhood hometown – outside of Boswell, Oklahoma.

For more than three decades of retirement, she loved being back “home,” near more of her family, with a bigger yard and gardens to enjoy. Wynema made so many beautiful quilts during these years, canned countless jars of vegetable soup from their garden, and loved the many visits with their children and grandchildren. In May of 2010, they relocated to Texas to be closer to the children and grandchildren.

Wynema was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Wallace, and their son, Stanley. She leaves behind two sons, Ron Verrett and wife, Jane, of San Antonio and Vince Verrett and wife, June, of Katy; and two daughters, Deb Hearin and husband, Larry, of Round Rock and Brenda Aram and husband, Rich, of Fulshear, all in Texas; as well as eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, brothers Calvin Self and Charles Self, and many friends and other family members.
