HERNANDEZ Born: December 11, 1949 in Abilene, TX Died: September 20, 2018 Rockdale, IL Ysidro “Sid” Hernandez, age 68, of Rockdale, IL passed away unexpectedly on Thursday September 20, 2018 at the University of Chicago Medicine surrounded by his loving family. Born December 11, 1949, Sid was lifetime resident of Rockdale, IL and attended Joliet West High School in the 1960’s. He worked at GAF located in Joliet and was a prison guard at Stateville Correctional Center.

Sid retired after being a manager of a contracting company called Continental Cable. Sid was a loving father, son, brother, and grandfather. One of his greatest loves was fishing, but he also enjoyed watching WWE wrestling, gardening, hunting, playing pool, and shooting darts at Bud’s Tavern.

Sid was a diehard Chicago Bears fan with an equal fondness for the Chicago Cubs. He will be most remembered for his incredible strength, giving heart, patience, and ability to lift your spirits when you were down. Surviving are his loving parents Alberto and Sue Guzman of Joliet.

His brothers and sisters, John Hernandez, Pete Hernandez, David Hernandez, Rachel Munoz, Donna Hernandez, and Felicia Bibian. His children Jodi Hernandez, Ysidro “Cowboy” Hernandez, Jill Hernandez, Mary Hernandez, Adam, Laura, and Sydney Sayre. Special granddaughters Bella and Willow.

Special grandson Kodi Lopez. His ex-wife Joyce Hernandez. Longtime girlfriend Kathie.

Lifetime friend Bill Tallman. And numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his brother George Hernandez.

Fiancée Debbie Sayre. Grandson Richard Kayel Lopez. Best friend Thomas (TC) Carrol and son Jeff.

Funeral Services will be held, Wednesday September 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Visitation Wednesday 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
