Zachary Edward Stivers, Sr. of Kansas City, Missouri August 30, 1948 – May 17, 2019 Zachary Edward Stivers, Sr. was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri to Clarence Edward Stivers and Augustine Davis Stivers on August 30, 1948. He attended De La Salle High School where he received his high school diploma in 1966. He enlisted in the Air Force in September, 1968.

He served four years as Airman Transportation in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged. Zachary became a black belt in Taekwondo in South Korea.

In April, 1971, Zachary joined a union with Irene Gonzalez to this union six children were born. He received two Bachelor Degrees one in Business Management and one in Arts at the National American University. He worked at Montgomery Wards and Copaken, White & Blitt of Kansas City where he retired.

Zachary enjoyed researching and studying his Bible, praying, writing poems, drawing, shooting pool, photography, singing, relaxing, listening to 60s and 70s soul music, eating barbecue and most of all family gatherings. Zachary departed this earthly life on Friday May, 17 2019. He is preceded in death by his father Clarence Stivers, mother Augustine Stivers, brother Quincy Stivers, daughter Gloria Stivers and son Israel Stivers.

Zachary Edward Stivers, Sr. leaves behind 1 brother, Cecil Stivers; 4 children Rachel Stivers (Barricia Blackburn), Zachary Stivers II, Rita Wilson, and Felipe Stivers; 11 grandchildren Raphael Stivers (Destiney Stivers), Gloria Stivers, Mikayla Stivers, Angelica Stivers, Selena Stivers, De’Kaiden Wilson, Rosario Wilson, Aaliyah Stivers, Kimberly Harbin, Navoarro Habin, Ayonah Anderson and Israel Grace Stivers; 10 great grandchildren Amir Josiah Stivers, Elijah Jones, Jaila Jones, Amorean Jones, Zion Jones, Romeo Stivers, Emya Randolph, Eddie Randolph, Enyiah James, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews that he cherished, loved and adored. Service for Mr. Stivers will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 31, 2019, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel. Burial Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Friends may call from 8:00 A.M. until service time Friday at the chapel.
