Alma Kent Randall, born April 17, 1927, passed away peacefully at his home in Layton, Utah on Monday, December 17, 2018. A. Kent Randall was born in Morgan, Utah to Alma F. Randall and Marie Pyrah Randall and was the oldest of his siblings, but the last of them to pass away. Preceding Kent in death were his mother and father, Alma and Marie Randall, two sisters, Betty Rose and Shirley Sommers, two brothers, Garry and Dennis Randall, and two children, Dana Buxton and Gregory T. Randall.

Kent was proud to have served in the Navy and the Army in World War II and the Korean War. Kent earned his bachelor’s degree from Utah State University, and a master’s degree from the University of Utah where he also worked on a PhD. Degree.

His life-long work was done at Weber State University where he spent 34 years as an outstanding educator, and also served as the Dean of the School of Technology. Kent was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings in the Church including Bishop’s Counselor, Bishop, as a counselor in the stake presidency, and as a temple worker. He also served as a member of the Layton City Council for many years.

Surviving Kent are Steven Kent and Kathy Randall of Layton, Utah, Dallen and husband Kerry Webb of Rigby, Idaho, and Tamara and Pat Shaw of Kaysville, Utah. Kent and Jerry had five children 28 grandchildren and 81 great-grandchildren. Kent was a marvelous example of valiant, righteous living and he leaves a great legacy of faith for his numerous posterity.

He will be long remembered for his many acts of service and love to all those around him. Above all he loved his family and yearned for them to constantly remain on the covenant path. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Layton Stake Center, 1402 N. Fort Lane, Layton, Utah.

Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, South Morgan Cemetery, Morgan, Utah.
