Obituary for Albert A Barone Albert A. Barone, 90 Lakeland, FL Albert Anthony Barone, 90, passed away Wed. , Dec. 26, 2018 at Lakeland Regional Hospital in Lakeland, FL.

He was born on Oct. 28, 1928 to the late Louis Barone and Antoinette Mirabelli of Glasco, NY. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Theresa Marie Davi and his brother Louis S. Barone.

He is survived by his loving younger brother John and his wife Mary Ann of Frederick, MD; his sister-in-law Dorothy Davi of Lakeland, FL, and many nieces and nephews. As teenagers, Albert and Theresa, his childhood sweetheart, were employed in the upscale restaurant of the famous Schoentag’s Hotel, a fixture in the Hudson River Valley. Here they learned the restaurant trade and developed the business acumen that formed the basis of their long career in the industry.

Albert was drafted just three months after his marriage on Oct. 22, 1950 and the opening of his new restaurant, Jo-Al’s, in Kingston, NY. He served in the US Army in Company G, 13th Infantry and was stationed at Fort Devens, MA while Theresa operated the new establishment with her sister and their mother, the incomparable chef, Angelina Davi.

After operating Jo Al’s for 18 years, the couple managed Wiltwyck Country Club in Kingston, NY for 27 years. Together, they remained lifelong members of Club Managers Assn. of America and were one of the first husband-and-wife teams to become members of the national association’s 25-year club.

They also remained members of the Metropolitan Club Managers Assn. and were bestowed membership into the MCMA’s Hall of Fame in 1998. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thurs.

, Jan. 3, 2019 at 10 a.m. (with visitation beginning at 9:30) at St. Joseph’s Church, 210 W. Lemon St., Lakeland, FL. A second mass will be celebrated on Mon.

, Jan. 7, 2019 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 242 Wall St., Kingston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choosing.
