Alberta’s Obituary Alberta Williams Martin, 80, was ushered by Angels into the presence of Our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at her residence. She was born October 8, 1938, in Raymond City. Her family later moved to Dunbar, where she lovingly raised her family.

She followed her dreams and became and LPN and graduated from the University of Charleston’s nursing program with a RN degree. She was employed at Charleston General Hospital for over 35 years. She loved the Lord and was faithful to Ferguson Memorial Baptist Church, where she proudly served as a deaconess and a member of the Gospel Candle Lights, and was well known for her poetry and the Christian plays that she wrote.

Alberta was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Brawley and Annie Williams; husband, Thomas H. Martin; stepson, Tony Martin; great-grandsons, Milton Cathey, Kyle Cathey and Langston Francis. She leaves to cherish her precious memories and mourn her passing, daughters, Sojuana Ellis, Raycyne Martin, Tonya Rogers (Alan); son, Tonto Martin (Jill), all of Dunbar; stepchildren, Gloria Navarro, Thomasina Anderson (Jimmy) of California, Shevilia Daniels, Brenda and Thomas Martin Jr. of Michigan, Marketta Martin Jenkins of Wisconsin; sister, Ernestine Williams of North Carolina: brothers, Joseph T. (Arline) of Dunbar, Matthew C. Williams of Charleston; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; aunt Effie White of New Jersey; special friends Ruth Byers, Debbie Toney and Debbie Walker; and special ex-son-in-law, Sefus Ellis. A special thanks to our sister Raycyne for the extraordinary care she provided to our Mother.

A celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, at Ferguson Memorial Baptist Church, 124 Marshall Avenue, Dunbar, with the Rt. Rev. E. Alphonso Heyliger, Senior Pastor officiating.

Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Ferguson Memorial Baptist Church, Dunbar. Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
