Obituary of Aldo Del Rosario FORMERLY OF CONGERS, NY – Aldo Del Rosario Sr., 93, formerly of Congers, NY passed away peacefully on December 30, 2018 in Summerton, SC. Born in Genoa, Italy on December 25, 1925, he came to the United States with his mother in 1930, settling in Hell’s Kitchen, NY. He was a WWII veteran serving as a Seabee in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946.

Following his time in the service he returned to Congers where he worked as a bartender at his mother’s restaurant, The Villa Recla. There he met and fell in love with a beautiful waitress, Helen Kaufman, whom he married. They spent 54 wonderful years together until her death on November 26, 2000.

He worked at the Orangeburg Fiber Plant for many years, leaving to take a position with Orange and Rockland Utilities. He worked for O&R at the Lovett and Bowline Point Plants for 27 years before retiring as a Senior Training Specialist in 1988. He enjoyed many hobbies and passions such as fishing, woodworking, dancing, smoking his pipe and making people laugh with the sharp wit and endearing charm he retained until the very end.

He took great pride in sharing his many skills and wealth of knowledge with others. Always ready with advice or to lend a helping hand, he lived every day of his life to the fullest. On his Christmas birthday he told us, “I’ve lived a long, good life and accomplished a lot.

When my time comes to go, I’m good! ” Who knew it would be so soon? In addition to his wife, Aldo was predeceased by a son, Aldo Del Rosario, Jr. and a grandson, Aldo Del Rosario III.

He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Ruth Elise Carlson of Maryland, NY and Rita Hicks and beloved son-in-law Allen Keith Hicks of Congers, NY, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Also survived by his second wife of 16 years, Joan Baker Del Rosario of Harleyville, SC. The family will receive friends on Friday from 3-7pm at Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, Inc. 728 West NyackRd.
