He was born August 3, 1923 to Herman and Cora Upshaw in Austin, Texas. Jasper was the sixth child born to this union.

He joined church at an early age at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church in Peyton Colony. Jasper attended Peyton Colony school then he later went to the Texas school for the Deaf.

He later met Nellie Mae Watts and they married May 8, 1949, and unto this union they had 16 children, 3 of whom preceded him in death, Anthony (Barney), Douglas, and a daughter. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Nellie, daughters Jessie Mae (San Antonio), Betty Lou (Beaumont), Alberta (Larry) Austin, Laura Ann (Kent) Grand Prairie, Linda Kay, Pauline, Frances Lynn, Rose Mary, all of Blanco, Sons Willie(Fairfield Ct. ), Mark (Michelle) Round Rock, Paul (Darlene) San Marcos, Robert (Leslie) Little Rock, Ark.

and Bryant (Jennifer) La Porte, TX. 41 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great children. Jasper was a member of Blanco First Baptist Church and he fellowshipped with Buggy Barn Group every Sunday morning.

He lived a long and happy life of 95 years. He never met a stranger. He was loved by all and was loved by all he will be missed.

He and Nellie would have celebrated 70 years of marriage May 8th of this year. Visitation will be 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Blanco. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 24, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Blanco, 1200 4th St, Blanco, TX 78606.

Interment will follow in Peyton Colony Cemetery.
