Wilwert-Oeth, 93, of Hawkeye Care Center formerly of Dubuque and Epworth, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 2:58 at Hawkeye Care Center in Epworth, Iowa. Friends and relatives of Alice may call from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2019 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa. Services for Alice will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Epworth, Iowa, with Rev.

Kevin Wilwert presiding and Rev. Michael Schueller concelebrating. Burial will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Epworth, Iowa.

She was born in December 4, 1925 Epworth, Iowa, first child and daughter of George and Mary (Reinsbach) Streif. She attended Millville School, St. Clements Bankston, and the University of Dubuque. She taught in one room rural schools for several years and worked as a Teacher Associate at the Western Dubuque for 27 years.

On August 23, 1948 she was united in marriage to Gilbert Wilwert at St. Clements Catholic Church in Bankston, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1982. She married Bernard Oeth on March 4, 1998.

He preceded her in death on July 17, 2009. Her garden was a of much food for freezing and canning. Her flowers gave her much satisfaction.

In early years she sewed most of her children’s and her clothes, repaired and mended for many others. She made baby quilts for each grandchild and a comforter for each graduating senior to take along to college. She was a foster parent for many years, a member of the Dominic’s.

She enjoyed the Elderhostel programs for 10 years and liked her bingo game. She spent many hours with Bernard while he was a resident at Ennoble Manor, after she could no longer care for him. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Epworth, Iowa.

She is survived by seven children, John (Ellen) Wilwert of Allen, TX, James Wilwert of Ankeny, IA, Joel (Lynda) Wilwert of Spokane, WA, Dr. Jason (Tracy) Wilwert of Sequim, WA, Jane Tucker of Sumner, IA, Jean (Bob) Krueger of West Des Moines, IA, Julie (Mark) Kuehnle of Cedar Rapids, IA; one daughter-in-law, Peg Wilwert of Iowa Falls, IA; 5 step-children, 18 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; 27 step great grandchildren; four siblings, Mildred Streif of Dubuque, IA, Darrel Streif of Dyersville, IA, Laura Streif of Stockton, IL and Donna Streif of Dubuque, IA; brother-in-law, Eddie Breitbach of Dubuque, IA; sister –in-law, Dorothy Link of Dubuque, IA. She is also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Dr. Jeff Wilwert; grandson, James Kuehnle; son-in-law, Donald Tucker; one brother, Edward Streif, two sisters, Marion Kirmse and Arlene Breitbach; one sister-in-law, Loraine Streif; one brother-in-law, Wayne Kirmse.
