OBITUARY Alison L. Bernier February 3, 1954 – November 23, 2018 Alison (Tigger) is now forever travelling, after passing on November 23rd, after a long illness. Born in Chicago, IL, she was nomadic with her family, traversing the heartland to the west coast as a child, ultimately calling the East Coast home. She was educated in many schools around the country, and graduated; but ‘life’ was her true educator.
In her young adult years she excelled at careers of retail management, and at Jaguar as well as Boston Volvo – where she was highly regarded and respected self made professional. She knew as much, if not more than the boys in the family, about all things automotive. In later years, Alison made a selfless decision to forgo a career to take care of both of her parents in Marblehead.
She was always a caregiver – but this truly was an act of selfless love. She called many places home: Boston, Watertown, Marblehead, Swampscott to name a few – even though she was grounded – she was just as much a free spirit, a traveler – who experienced and enjoyed what life’s treasures were discovered. Sailing with friends, or heading to yet another new country – she found the good things in life.
She was well known and loved in Marblehead, where she called home for over 30 years. All knew her best by her childhood nickname – Tigger. She globe trotted as she could, a gifted artist – which many did not know about Alison; a voracious reader and learner, and an artisan in both cooking and baking.
If you had been blessed to know Alison, or just met her in a moment, you were left with a smirk, or a smile, or a warm glow. She was indelible on those she came across – and forever a part of their hearts. She was a soothing warm light that drew you to her.
The next time you are looking up at the night sky – look at the stars – find the one that is shining a little more brightly than the others – as she now travels throughout the heavens and among the stars- that brighter star had Tigger stop by, if even for a moment; and taught it how to shine a little brighter…. Alison was predeceased by her parents ShirleyAnne (Sam) and Emil Bernier of Marblehead. She is survived by her brother Ian and wife Kathy, of Salem; brother Jeremy, and brother in-law Robert, of Methuen.
She will be at rest at Waterside Cemetery in Marblehead. Per her request – there will be no visitation or calling hours. She asked that everyone please go out with family or loved ones; celebrate with great food and atmosphere, smiles and love – and raise a glass in her name….
In lieu of flowers or cards, the family humbly asks you to donate to the activity department of Hunt Rehab in Danvers, MA; or to your local MSPCA, in her name. Arrangements by Eustis and Cornell of Marblehead.
