Alvin C. Stevens passed away peacefully at Birchwood Manor in Ann Arbor, Michigan on May 25, 2019 at the age of 91. He was born July 21, 1927 in Adrian, Michigan to C.R. and Mildred (nee Grove) Stevens. Alvin graduated from Adrian High School in 1945.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946. He married Evelyn J. Manzer on August 7, 1947 in Ann Arbor. Al worked at U of M in the Electrical Department Plant Operations from 1947-1989.

He was a long-term member of Ypsilanti Wesleyan Church where he served as the treasurer for 38 years. He also taught Sunday School. Ultimately, he was devoted to serving God.

Al is survived by his daughter Jan (Michael) Horwood of Milan; grandchildren Deidra, Robert, and Samantha Horwood; and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, his parents, and siblings Ruby and Alfreda. Visitation Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Nie Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter, Ann Arbor.

Additional visitation Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 10 am until time of funeral service at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors at Bethlehem Cemetery, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ypsilanti Wesleyan Church or the Leader Dogs for the Blind.
