Aminda was born on February 25th, 1967 to the late Charles and Martha Petersen in New York City. Aminda was the sixth of seven kids.

She attended school in the New York City school system. Aminda graduated from Louis D. Brandeis High School in 1985. Aminda was a loving, dedicated Paraprofessional for seven years.

She left that job to become a Correction Officer at Rikers Island, where she remained until she became sick in 2012. Aminda met her husband, Angel “Chic” Vilella in 1984, and three beautiful children was a result of their union, Brandon, Aminda and Amber. Aminda was fun, loving and outgoing.

To know her was to love her. She was the life of the party with her dancing and singing. Aminda was known for making quick witted come backs.

Her family will forever cherish the memories they shared with her and keep them close to their hearts, as she leaves them to join her mother, father and brother in heaven. She leaves behind to mourn: her husband, Angel “Chic”; children, Brandon, Aminda and Amber; one son-in-love, Angel; her grandson, Elijah; two aunts, Evelyn Carswell (NYC) and Mary Whitfield (NYC); two uncles, Horace Walker (GA) and Thessolonia Walker (FL); her five sisters, Regina, Judelle, Jacqueline, JeriLynn and Tanya; her sixteen nieces and nephews, Samika, Charles, Brian, Fatima, Rahmaan, Martisa, Huell, Michael, Shanique, Ce’Asia, Sasha, Andre, Jaden, Jalen, Jaela and Angelique; sixteen great nieces and nephews; five godchildren; four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; and a host of friends and family who loved her dearly.
