Amos “Sonny” E. Bennett March 08, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Amos E. “Sonny” Bennett, age 89, Joplin, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019 at a local nursing center. Sonny was born January 25, 1930 in Springfield, Missouri, one of eleven children born to the late Albert Amos Bennett and Cora Bell Jones Bennett. He grew up in Joplin, attended Joplin Schools before going to work as a roofer, which he did his entire adult life.

He worked on his own, and with several other people over the years, including his step sons Bud and Arthur. He was a member of the Church of God Holiness. In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Ellen Bennett, who passed away on October 20, 2018, a brother, Alvie Bennett; sisters, Betty Winninger, Roxie Helgeson, Dorothy Bartoo, Lucinda Elkins, Hazel Bennett, Donna Bennett; and a step-son, Ricky Lynn Fletcher.

Survivors include his brother, Larry Bennett of Hutchison, Kansas; sisters, Zola Brill and husband Oscar of Carterville, Missouri, and Della Nickle of Ash Grove, Missouri; step children, Arthur Dunn of Joplin, and Linda Tilton of Oronogo, Missouri. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Rex Scoles and Tim Turner officiating.

Interment will follow in Burkhart Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
