Obituary for Andrew Sherwood Sr It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Andrew (Andy) Michael Sherwood Sr., 81. Andy was born in 1936 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Oliver Sherwood and Ottilie Kasperait Sherwood, and passed away July 29, 2018 at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
Andy was a great man and was loved by many people; there was nobody Andy wouldn’t talk to. He loved to tell his lifelong stories to not only his family and friends but to anybody he thought it would help. Andy enjoyed front porch sitting with a cup of coffee and a good fish story!
He spent much of his free time hunting and fishing, two things he loved to do. Andrew served his country in the United States Marine Corps from January 26, 1957 until January 26, 1962. Andy was a longtime resident of Newtown, Connecticut until he retired from driving a bus for Art Bennet in Newtown School System.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sally A. Sherwood; as well as his two sons: Michael (Becky) Sherwood of Arizona, Andrew Sherwood Jr. of Connecticut; and four daughters: Melanie Sherwood of Connecticut, Tracy (John) Orton of Kentucky, Wendy (Jim) Sherwood of Connecticut, and LeReine (Rich) Frampton of Connecticut. Andy is also survived by his 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at the Manakee Funeral Home of Elizabethtown, Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev.
Neil Price officiating. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday August 1, 2018 beginning at 4:00 pm for family and from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm for friends and will continue Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 9:00 am until the time of service.
