Obituary for Anna Kathryn Caris Anna Kathryn Caris, 84, of 26 Woodward Meadows, Lock Haven, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on March 30, 2018. Born December 28, 1933 in Orviston, PA, she was the oldest daughter of Thomas and Garnetta Gunsallus Packer. She attended Robb Elementary School and Graduated from Lock Haven High School in the Class of 1952.

Anna was married January 20, 1954 to Dale A. Caris Sr., who preceded her in death on November 4, 1963. She was also proceeded in death by her parents, a son David L. Caris Sr., a sibling Tillie Jane Oaks, a granddaughter Tayrn Caris, and her Best Friend Mary Jo Caprio. In the past, Anna has attended Liberty Baptist Church and was baptized at the Church of Christ in Mill Hall after her marriage.

She converted to Catholicism in 1997. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Holy Spirit Parish and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was very active in her church, where she was involved in many ministries.

She participated in two mission Trips to Jamaica. Her first Job was at the Lock Haven Laundry. She worked at Karnish Instruments, Head Start as a Teachers Aid, and Worked for the Redevelopment Authority after the 1972 flood.

She then went to work for Woolrich, Inc. until her retirement. Upon her retirement she became a caregiver to many and a volunteer at Susqueview. Anna liked going places and being with people.

She loved going to New York City to see Broadway plays and attending The Millbrook Playhouse each summer, and attending the local High School Performances. She was a life long Democrat and enjoyed going to the local events. She attended monthly dinners with her 1952 classmates.

She loved her Friday’s getting her hair done with Mary Jo Johnson and visits with the Friday Morning Ladies at the salon. Anna also enjoyed going to the Village Tavern to be with Angela Kay Caprio and the Caprio Family and friends. The Caprio family was her second family.

She especially loved family gatherings with her children and grandchildren. Anna faithfully sent greeting cards to her family and friends throughout the year. She was always thinking of others and it was important that those cards went out on time.

She survived by her 5 children, Dale A. Caris Sr. and spouse Linda of Lock Haven, Kenneth R. Caris of Blanchard, Timothy J. Caris and spouse Cindy of Blanchard, Debra A. Poorman and spouse Curtis of Marsh Creek, and Melissa J. Rockey and spouse David of Woolrich, 21 Grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren, a brother Thomas R. Packer and spouse Pauline, many nieces, nephews and cousins. A special Uncle, James “Allen” Gunsallus, also survives her. A funeral mass for all family and friends will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 310 E. Water Street, Lock Haven, PA 17745 with Reverend Father Jozef Kovacik officiating.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High Street, Lock Haven, Pa 17745. The family suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Anna’s name to the Lock Haven Catholic School, Lock Haven Emergency Medical Service, or the Millbrook Playhouse.
