Anthony “Skip” Gleason March 05, 1951 – March 28, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Anthony “Skip” Gleason passed away at his home on March 28, 2019 after a lengthy battle with diabetes. At his request, no public service will be held. Skip was born on March 5, 1951 to Florence and Frank Gleason.

Skip attended schools in Milton-Freewater and while in high school excelled in sports at Mac Hi, earning All-Conference honors in football and basketball and also lettering in baseball at Mac-Hi. In basketball, he led the Intermountain Conference in scoring and was the runner-up for the state scoring title in 1969. He received High School All American honors from several magazines in 1969.

After receiving scholarships, he attended Walla Walla Community College where he was a key player in the Warrior’s rise to the Conference Championship. Skip loved to travel and several of his jobs were in idealic locations. He worked in Honolulu as a waiter in a Waikiki Hotel.

Several years later, he landed a job as a chauffeur to Hollywood stars in Palm Springs, California, where he became friends with the likes of Charles Bronson, Frank Capra, Johnny Bench and many others. Skip retired as a Correctional Officer in 2011 after twenty five years of service at the Penitentiary in Walla Walla. A lifelong bachelor, Skip enjoyed trips to Nevada with his friends, where he pursued his passion for gambling on sporting events.

Skip is survived by his brother, Dennis Gleason of Milton-Freewater and brother, Tim Gleason and sister-in-law, Connie Gleason of Walla Walla. He was preceded in death by his parents Florence and Frank Gleason.
