Obituary for Arthur Poppe Arthur L. Poppe, 72 years of age, of Kearney, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Kearney Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at O’Brien-Straatmann-Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney, with Rev. Dean Pofahl officiating.

A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Art was born December 30, 1945 to Arthur W.H. and Beulah Ada (Bruienkool) Poppe in Norton, Kansas. He attended and graduated in 1966 from Norton High School in Norton, Kansas.

He went on to further his education at Denver College of Electronics. Art was united in marriage to Barbara (Holder) Poppe on April 13, 1974 and the couple raised two children together: Heather and Scott. Art worked as a Biomedical Equipment Technologist for CHI Health-Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney for 40 years.

He was a dedicated, hard-working man. Art had a love for electronics and Star Trek, but most of all he cherished his time spent with his family. Art leaves behind to celebrate his life, his wife: Barbara Holder-Poppe of Kearney; son: Scott Poppe and life companion, Mackenzie Melcher of Lincoln, Nebraska; two granddaughters: Adrielle and Amelia; sister: Judy Harrison and her husband, Jerry of Wichita, Kansas; nieces: Jenny Ball and Jo Thomas; cousins: Jeff Bielser and his wife, Susan of Lexington, Nebraska, and Karen Collins and her husband, Larry; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Art was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Heather Poppe. Memorials in Art’s name are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Condolences may be shared online at www.
