Obituary for Robert “Bob” Buettenback Robert Buettenback, 86 Kearney resident Robert A. “Bob” Buettenback, 86, of Kearney, passed away Thursday, October 18th, 2018 at Wel-Life Assisted Living in Kearney. Memorial services will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, October 23rd at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney with Chaplain Thayne Moore officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Inurnment will take place at Moses Hill Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Condolences may be shared online at www.

osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremations Services. Bob was born May 22, 1932 in Sedgwick County, CO.

He was the third of six children born to Dewey and Faye (Andersen) Buettenback. He received his education from Julesburg public schools. Bob worked with his dad in his masonry business.

He then served in the U.S. Army, where he received the National Service Defense medal, Korean Service medal, The US Service medal and the Good Conduct medal. He was honorably discharged from serving our country in September of 1954. He then began his 37 year career with Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Company as a lineman.

He retired in 1990. In 1967, Bob married Betty Daharsh Johnson and became “Dad” to Linda Johnson Grimes. Bob and Betty enjoyed fishing, playing cards, antiquing, making and selling crafts and time with their 7 grandchildren.

Betty passed away June 2nd of 1987. In 1989, Bob married Earline Wilson Meiborg and became step-dad to Sean, Tracy and Michelle Meiborg. Bob and Earline lived in Julesburg, CO.

They volunteered 2,000 hours at the Colorado Welcome Center, and loved meeting the many wonderful and interesting travelers. They moved to Crestwood, MO in June of 2013 to be closer to her adult children. Earline lost her battle with cancer on October 6, 2015.

Bob was a proud member of the American Legion Post 105 for 68 years. He enjoyed attending school functions, and sports that his grandchildren participated in. While living in Nebraska he was known as Grandpa to everyone in the small town of Wilcox, where 4 of his grandchildren attended school.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Linda Grimes and her husband, John; stepchildren Sean Meiborg and his wife, Lana, Tracy Deck and her husband, Tony, Michelle Wilhelm and her husband, Chris; grandchildren Tim (Misty) Weber, Roger (Tina) Weber, Scott (Nancy) Grimes, Aaron (Nicki) Grimes, Nick Grimes, Brock and Chase Meiborg, Catie, Tyler and Ryan Deck, and Sydney, Riley and Kyle Wilhelm; 12 great-grandchildren; 8 great great-grandchildren; sister Elzora (Wes) Bills; sisters-in-law Brenda Buettenback, Rogene Daharsh, and Janet Wilson; his “best buddy” Stan Mast; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wives Betty and Earline; granddaughter Christi Conner; sister Eula Mae; brothers Jack, Cleo and Randy; brothers-in-law Bill Daharsh and Ken Wilson; sister-in-law Pat Edlund; and mother-in-law, Marie Wilson. Bob was a fun and very loving man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
