Obituary for Ralph Good Ralph Good, 75 Gibbon Resident Ralph Good, 75 of Gibbon, died Saturday, August 18, 2018 at his home. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am Friday at the Faith United Church in Gibbon with the Rev. Mike Evans officiating.

The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska School of the Blind, Faith United Church or the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be shared online at www.

osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Ralph was born October 23, 1942, in Chappell, NE, to Rowland and Ruth (Miller) Good.

He attended the Nebraska School for the Blind in Nebraska City, NE until 8th grade. He graduated from Chappell High School, in Chappell, NE. Ralph attended Tech School, in Omaha, NE and studied Electronics.

After graduating, he worked in Waco, TX before his travels took him to the Pacific Northwest, where he worked for Boeing. While at Boeing, he helped to set up the Minuteman Missile silos. He then moved to Cozad, NE, where he met his future wife, Diane Henry, on a blind date.

He was working as an Electrician/Quality Control at Monroe’s in Cozad. Ralph and Diane were joined in marriage April 27, 1968, in Callaway, NE. They lived in Cozad before moving to the Henry family ranch at Oconto, NE, in 1969, where they made their family home and were blessed with 4 children.

Ralph continued as an electrician & carpenter while working on the family ranch. In the early 80’s, the family moved to Callaway, where they ran the local Snack Bar. He also worked at Callaway Public Schools, as Head of Maintenance, until 2008, when Ralph & Diane moved to Gibbon, NE for retirement.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane, of Gibbon, NE. Children are Colleen (Bret) Lamb of Bridgeport, TX; Christine (Kent) Kegley of Gibbon, NE; Sarah (Chad) Overvaag of Watertown, SD; and Jason (Melissa) Good of Gothenburg, NE. Grandchildren Eli Pena, Ebony Pena, Alexandria Good, Rian Good, Hannah Miller, Samara Overvaag, Willow Overvaag and Abbie Miller.

Great grandchildren, Emery Pena and Alice Blaylock. Two sisters, Donita Newger and Katherine Dillon. Mother-in-law, Charlotte Henry and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Ralph was born legally blind, yet, he never wanted to be considered handicapped. He did not let it stop him from accomplishing anything he wanted to do. He was a caring, compassionate & proud father who dearly loved his cherished wife, children & grandchildren.

The family recently held a surprise 50th Anniversary party, where the whole family was together for the celebration. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, where he served in several different capacities. For those who knew Ralph best, he had a wonderful sense of humor and was quite the smartaleck.

He enjoyed woodworking, collecting coins & helping out where he could. He was a hard working man who enjoyed taking any project and making something better out of it. And even when he shouldn’t have been, he was on the roof, shingling.
