Obituary for Mr. Arthur R. Martin Sr. Arthur R. Martin Sr., 86, of Toms River passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Arthur served in the US Army and was a combat veteran of the Korean War. He worked as Plant Engineer for Freedman’s Bakery for nearly 45 years before retiring.

Arthur and his family lived most of his life in Neptune Township, where he was a member of numerous organizations, the Hamilton Methodist Church, Boy Scouts of America Coordinator and Founder of Pack 190, Neptune Township Board of Education, Neptune Juvenile Conference Committee, Red and Black Booster Club, Neptune Soccer Assoc. , Neptune School Steering Committee, Neptune Board of Adjustments, American Legion Post 346, VFW 2639, Neptune Lions Club, West Neptune Home Owners Assoc. and Monmouth County Bar Assoc.

Volunteer of the Year 1995. Arthur was predeceased by his son Edward and his grandson James. He is survived by the love of his life his wife Mary and sons Arthur Jr. and his wife Dorothy, James, and his wife Alicia and Douglas and his wife Kimberley.

He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and his sister Audrey Smith. Arthur loved spending time with his family and friends. Affectionately known as Bubba, he would do anything for his grandchildren.

There wasn’t anything he couldn’t build or fix. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He had many fond memories and accomplishments with his life long friend Dominic Loperfido.

His kindness and warm smile will always be missed. A memorial gathering will take place on Monday, June 18 from 5pm-7pm, with a religious service at 6 :30pm, at Ely Funeral Home, Neptune. To send a memorial gift to the family of Mr. Arthur R. Martin Sr. please visit our Sympathy Store.
