Obituary for Artis Skaggs-Williams (Bonoit) Artis Marie Skaggs-Williams, 87, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Northpointe Woods. She was born in Gaines, MI on November 19, 1930, the daughter of Leslie Benoit and Lottie (Collins) Benoit. Artie attended Battle Creek Public Schools until moving to Flint, MI.

She was employed at Post Garden’s Green House and then later retired from UpJohn in 1991. She was an active member at the Overflow Ministries Church in Battle Creek Artie is survived by her Husband of 25 years, James Ray Williams; Two Sons, Bruce (LueAnn) Skaggs, Kevin (Janice) Skaggs; Daughter, Lora (John Skaggs) Poucher, Step-Son, Thomas Williams, Timothy Williams, Anthony Williams, 12 Grandchildren, 12 Great-Grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her Father, Leslie Benoit, Mother, Lottie Benoit, First Husband, Gerald B. Skaggs, Son, John Skaggs, Step-Daughter, Sheila Ortis, Sisters, Julia Gilson, Vera Gilson, Amber Giffin, Dess Hammacher, Edith Kelly, Ruth Olmstead, JennaMae Gilson, Brothers, John “Sherm” Benoit, Harold Benoit, Weston Benoit, Howard Benoit.

Artie enjoyed gardening, flowers and animals, she was often known as the “Raccoon Lady”, but she would take care of any animal that she could. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Artie spent many years of her life traveling, she visited all 50 states.

In her earlier years, she was very active with children, working for PTA, and making sure everyone was taken care of. She was the sweetest, loving and most welcoming Mother and Grandmother to all. Artie will truly be missed by her family, and everyone that knew her.

Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service, on June 30, 2018 from 2:00 – 3:00 pm. A Memorial service will immediately follow starting at 3:00 pm with Mr. Bruce Skaggs officiating. Memorials may be made to: Operation Christmas Child Or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
