Obituary for Augustine (Miguel) Gaffney Augustine M. (Tina) Gaffney passed away on November 2 at age 95 in her new home in Oswego, NY. She was born in Solvay, NY into a loving family who immigrated from Spain circa 1920. Augustine is the widow of Joseph R. Gaffney, her husband of 62 years.

She is survived by children Kathleen (Alan) Stockwell, Richard Gaffney, Suzanne (Kirk) Beason; grandchildren Blossom Beason, Brian Stockwell and Derrick Stockwell; and beloved members of the Miguel, Gago, Kinsella, Landry, Ford and Peach families. Augustine graduated Solvay High School and went on to enjoy a career as an executive secretary and civil servant. After postings around the United States and Great Britain as the wife of an Air Force officer, Augustine fulfilled her dearest wish and returned to the Syracuse area to be near family, including her beloved mother Natividad.

Always open to new adventures, at the age of 94 Tina bought a house in Oswego, and happily lived there with her daughter and son-in-law. She was grateful that friends and family took the time to visit her after the move. This last phase of her life was enriched greatly by the people and activities of the Oswego arts community.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cecilia’s Church 1001 Woods Rd. Solvay, on Tuesday, November 6th at 10 a.m., The Rite of Committal will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Oswego, NY. All are invited immediately afterwards to a buffet in Augustine’s Oswego home.
