Obituary for Aurora A Picone On Saturday, November 24, 2018 at University Medical Center New Orleans our beloved Aurora Avis Picone kindly known as “Muttie” transitioned from earthly life to her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior. Aurora was born November 14, 1963 at Charity Hospital, New Orleans to Joseph Barthelemy Sr. and the late Irma DeMolle Barthelemy. She was the affectionate and devoted wife of Bernard E. Picone known as “Bernie”.
Aurora was christened December, 1963 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Pointe-A-La-Hache, Louisiana. She was the loving mother of Tony Barthelemy, Patrick, Jr., Beck and Aaron Frederick. She was the adoring sister of Wendy gray, Joseph, Jr, Talbot and Kenny Barthelemy.
In her early years Aurora was a laborer at Beshel industries in Pointe-A-La-Hache, Louisiana but her true passion was fishing oysters. Aurora was the only commercial fisherwoman in Pointe-A-La-Hache. Louisiana.
Aurora was an entrepreneur who owned several businesses. She was many things to many people but to her family and friends she was a devoted, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, confidant, strong willed, generous and community supporter. Today we do not morn her death but we celebrate her home going for an enriched and fulfilled life completing the roll God had intended for her.
Her journey may have ended with us but she ascended with her Lord and Savior eternally. Aurora leaves to cherish her gracious memories: husband: Bernard E. Picone, children: Tony (Tamica) Barthelemy, Patrick (Sabrina) Frederick, Jr., Breck (Sheronda Solomon), Aaron (Jessica) Frederick, father: Joseph Barthelemy, Sr., sister: Wendy (Kevin) Gray, brothers: Joseph (Sadie) Barthelemy, Jr., Talbot (Trese) Barthelemy and Kenny Barthelemy, father-in-law: Bernard A. Picone, sisters-in-laws: Hope (Brad) Trumbaturi, Lavinia (Shane) Harris, grandchildren: D’Tonio Solomon, Lynnea, Serenity, Brenton, Ariana and Gabriel Frederick, godparents: Alvin and Willie Mae Gibson, godchildren: Shamirah B. Jack and Katherine Williams and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of St. Thomas Catholic Church, also employees of Commercial Fisherman of Plaquemines Parish, U. S. Postal Service, Plaquemines Parish Police and Fire Departments, Plaquemines Parish School Board and Plaquemines Parish Government are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 17605 Hwy.
