Barbara Ann Purdie Zepp, “Mom Mom”, 88, of Westminster, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. Barbara was born on March 6, 1930 in Ford, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Julian Lemuel and Mary Elizabeth (Ford) Purdie. She was the beloved wife of the late Garland Edgar Zepp, who predeceased her on June 25, 1992.

Barbara graduated from Westminster High School with the class of 1947. She was employed as a homemaker and held numerous jobs… Read More » over the years including Switchboard Operator for Carroll County Doctor’s Answering Service. She proudly raised her children and helped raise many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, it was her priority and most important job in life.

She greatly enjoyed watching her family grow in numbers over the years, and found joy being a part of her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives. Her happiest of times was spent at her pool watching her family and their friends coming over to swim. Barbara loved gardening and was proud of her beautiful flower gardens that she had at her home.

She was an excellent cook and baker and liked to crochet. She was the matriarch of her family and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and Mom Mom. Surviving her are children Garland E. “Gene” Zepp and wife Angie of Westminster, Jerry W. Zepp and wife Twila of Hedgesville, W.VA, Kathy Zepp Wantz and husband Steve of Westminster, Susan Zepp Jones of Westminster, Michael C. Zepp and wife Brandi of Westminster; son-in-law Paul Jones of Westminster; twin sisters Jane Purdie and Jean Purdie Picardi both of Westminster, and brothers Malcolm Purdie of Athen, TN and Raymond Purdie of Luray, VA; beloved grandchildren Olivia Zepp, Cecelia Zepp, Sophia Zepp, Vaughn Zepp, Philip Zepp, Monica Peeke, Elizabeth Chaney, Ashley Wantz, Christopher Jones, Tristen Zepp, Gabrielle Zepp and Kristen Schwartzman; 10 adoring great-grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers Donald Purdie and Robert Purdie; and sisters Faustina Purdie, Gladys Copeland, Eunice LoSchiavo, and Bernice Vito. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 4 to 8 pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd. , Westminster.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 18th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jeffery Dull officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s name to Pleasant Valley Community Fire Company, 2030 South Pleasant Valley Rd. , Westminster MD 21158.
