Barbara Stephanie Snow Fink , September 23, 1942 — April 13, 2018

Barbara Stephanie Snow Fink, 75, of Westminster, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Carroll Hospital Center. Barbara was born on September 23, 1942 in Baltimore, and was the daughter of the late Sanders Herbert and Henrietta (Malen) Snow. She was the cherished wife of 53 years to Gordon Wayne Fink, her loving husband whom she married on November 21, 1964.

She obtained her teaching degree from University… Read More » of Maryland College Park and began her working career as a Physical Education Teacher at Western Girls High School. She took time off from work to raise her children.

Barbara went back to college to fulfill her lifelong dream to become a Registered Nurse. Through her hard work and perseverance she graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Catonsville Community College, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from UMBC. Barbara truly enjoyed her nursing career and was employed at Carroll Hospital Center, the Carroll County Health Department, and retired in 2003 from the State Health Department in Baltimore.

Barbara was a very gifted artist and particularly enjoyed painting with watercolor. She also enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and knitting- she made clothing, drapes and reupholstering furniture. She loved Paris, having visited there twice with her husband.

She was a member of the Carroll County Art Guild, Carroll County Arts Council, and Westminster Church of the Brethren. Surviving in addition to her husband are beloved children Barbara Anne Vlearbone and husband David of Westminster, Michelle Lynne Schwelling and husband Eric of Dayton, MD, and Joseph Thomas Fink of Westminster; grandchildren Michael David Vlearbone, Talia Snow Schwelling, and Elijah Taube Schwelling; sister-in-law Linda Ann Getz of Arbutus; dear friends Rick and Sandy Stevens; many loving cousins and friends; and sweet dog LuLu. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Westminster Church of the Brethren, 1 Park PL, Westminster MD 21157, with Pastor Glenn McCrickard officiating.

Interment will be in Meadow Branch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to Westminster Church of the Brethren.
