Barbara Jean Gainer Bailey passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019. She was born on March 11, 1947, to Rufus and Leona Smith in Utica, New York. A celebration of life memorial is scheduled for Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. at Bethel Church, with Pastor Ron Meador officiating.

Arrangements were entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home. She graduated from high school in Old Forge, New York. She met and married Ganson Gainer on September 13, 1968, in Homestead, Florida.

He preceded her in death on August 9, 2003. She later married Bill Bailey. Barbara was employed as a seamstress and also made all of her children’s clothing.

She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and making tablecloths. Gardening was another of her pastimes. She loved reading her Bible.

Barbara was also very quick witted and enjoyed making people laugh. She loved her family dearly. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ganson Gainer; and her parents, Rufus and Leona Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Bailey; children, Nancy Ann Manion and husband Chris of Lawton, and Rufus Gainer and wife Daytona of Duncan; grandchildren, Nikolas Leitell, Alexander Leitell, Caitlin Leitell, Brigitte Manion; Michael Davidson, Denise Woods, Brena Saathoff, Emily Saathoff, Trent Saathoff, Elizabeth Saathoff, Raelynn Gainer, Dustyn Camacho, and Shae Camacho; 11 great grandchildren; and brothers, Chad Smith and wife Kathy of Old Forge, NY, and Richard Girou of Boonville, NY.
