Obituary for Barbara Jean Zacka Barbara Jean Zacka, 72, of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018. Formerly of Hollywood, FL, she had been a Naples/Bonita Springs resident since 1997. She was born October 8, 1945 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of William H. and Eula Mae (née Cogburn) Hudson.
Barbara’s father was in the U.S. Coast Guard and they followed him to many places before finally residing in North Miami and graduating from Norland High School. She married her soul mate, Edward in the summer of 1966 and they embarked on the ultimate journey of lifetime love and companionship. Together, they had 3 beautiful children and took many vacations.
She entered into the Nursing Program at Broward Junior College and then worked in the hospital caring for patients at Hollywood Memorial Hospital. She cared very deeply for each and every one of her patients. Later, she ended up leaving the hospital to pursue a career in Home Healthcare and was eventually offered the position as the Home Healthcare Administrator.
Barbara enjoyed taking vacations, sewing, sitting on the beach and reading a good book. But more than anything else, she loved her family very dearly. She had a great passion for everyone coming together for the Holidays and was truly the rock of the family.
Her smile was contagious and her soul was angelic. Mrs. Zacka is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Edward Joseph Zacka Jr.; her beloved children, Cherie (the late Curtis) Wolfe of South Ft. Myers, FL, Lisa (Donald) Jordan of Bonita Springs and Edward J. (Elaine) Zacka III of Bonita Springs, FL; five cherished grandchildren, Amanda (Bryan), Brandon, Eddie, Heather and Casey; and one treasured great granddaughter, Kiriana.
Visitation for family and friends will take place Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail South, Bonita Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 noon at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 28300 Beaumont Road, Bonita Springs. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home.
