Obituary for Barbara Holloway (Douglas) It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Barbara Matronia (Douglas) Holloway, age 78 announces the passing of our dear wife, sister, mother, and friend on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at her home in Battle Creek, MI. She was born January 25, 1940 in Jonesboro, AR, the daughter of Leroy Douglas and Annie (Jones) Douglas. Barbara had worked for 32 years as a unit secretary with the Battle Creek Health System, retiring in January 2002.
She was married to her husband Shermont P. Holloway, of Battle Creek, MI fo 50 years and he survives. Also surviving is her brother: Leroy & Melinda Douglas, Jr. of Naperville, IL, a sister: Royetta & Sonny Means of Hazelcreast, IL; two daughters: LaVera Wells and Cynthia Poydras; and a son: Michael Peters. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter: Debra Douglas.
She was very involved in field ministry for the Jehovah’s Witnesses, reading her Bible, when she was younger she attended to her house plants, she was very knowledgeable about nutrition and shared her knowledge with others. She was a member of the Lakeview congregation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses (East Morgan Road. ).
Cremation will be conducted and Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 4:30 PM with William Barrett speaking at the Lakeview congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 5561 East Morgan Road, Battle Creek. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to:Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall.
