Bernard West “Bunny” Markwood KEYSER, WV – Bernard West Markwood passed away at Hospice of the Panhandle in Kearneysville, WV, surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 27, 2018. He was born in Keyser, WV, on November 12, 1931, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Bernard Markwood, Sr. Bernard “Bunny” Markwood was a graduate of Potomac State College in Keyser and attended WVU in Morgantown, WV. He worked for many years in his family’s businesses, the Markwood Funeral Home and Markwood Furniture Store in Keyser until they were sold.

He then worked for Allegany Ballistics Laboratory and subsequently for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, retiring in January, 2011 at the age of 80 years old. He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Betty Lipscomb Markwood; his daughters Sue Floyd and husband Kenny; Kelly Zacot and husband Joe; his grandchildren William Floyd, Thomas Floyd, Seton Zacot and Dakotah Zacot. He was predeceased by his parents, Bernard Markwood, Sr. and Mary Markwood,; his sister Mary V. Bishoff and husband Richard; his sister-in-law, Delores Moreland and husband Coye; sister-in-law, Elloween Lipscomb; his brother-in-law Oney Lipscomb and wives Teresa and Marjorie; and brother-in-law, Dale Lipscomb.

Bunny was a member of Burlington United Methodist Church in Burlington, WV, the Burlington Ruritan Club and the Keyser Lions Club. He loved working with his daughters’ school activities, his church and community. Viewings will be held at the Markwood Funeral Home on Mineral Street in Keyser, WV, on Friday, November 2nd from 2:00 -4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM.

The funeral service officiated by Rev. William Johnson will be held at Markwood Funeral Home on Saturday, November 3rd at 11:00 AM followed by internment in Potomac Memorial Gardens in Keyser, WV. Memorial donations may be made to the Burlington United Methodist Church, Burlington, WV, Hospice of the Panhandle or The Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the organization of the donor’s choice.
