Bernard J. “Bernie” Koetting November 11, 1929 – December 22, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Bernard J. “Bernie” Koetting, 89, of Perryville, died December 22, 2018 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born November 11, 1929 in Ste. Genevieve, MO, son of Edwin C. and Catherine G. (O’Connell) Koetting.

He and Rita B. Schemel were married on April 24, 1954. She preceded him in death on June 19, 2010. Bernie was retired from the US Postal Service.

He was a member of St. Vincent de paul Catholic church, American Legion and was a Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He loved his family, Flying and electronics.

Survivors include one son, Donald M. (Winona) Koetting of Perryville and one brother, Thomas E. (Maggie) Koetting of Evansville, IN two grandchildren, Lindsey Edmonds and Landon Koetting, Two Great Grand Children Jessie and Riley Edmonds. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one son, Richard “Dick” Koetting, one brother Larry Koetting and one sister Mary Catherine Koetting. Visitation will be held at Young & Sons Funeral Home on Friday, December 28 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm and on Saturday December 29 from 6:30 – 9:30 am.

He will then be taken to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for Mass at 10:00 am with Rev. Rich Wehrmeyer CM officiating. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 133 & the Delta Team.

Memorials preferred to American Cancer or Heart Association. Young & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Perryville, MO provided the arrangements. Online condolences may be made at youngandsonsfuneral.com.
