Bessie’s Obituary Bessie Eleanor “Ellie” Ballard, 62, of Sanger, passed away on Saturday December 15, 2018 in Denton, Texas. She was born on September 7, 1956 in Andalusia, AL to Tommy and Donna (Clawson) Smith. On January 12, 1974, Ellie married Geary Hershell Ballard in Covington County, AL.

They made their way to Texas and Ellie went to work at Care Inn where she remained for 25 years until its closing. She then became a custodian for the Sanger Independent School District where she has remained for the past 10 years, until her death. Ellie loved her children and grandchildren and they were the largest part of her life.

However, she loved the children at the schools almost as much as her own. If you knew her very well, you also knew she loved to shop. She had a passion for doing and taking care of others.

Her final testament of this was that she was an organ donor so that others might live through her selflessness. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joni Mothershed, with whom we know she had a great reunion. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Geary of Sanger; three children, Wendi Pyron and husband Ronnie of Sanger, Janda Mason of Emory, and Stormy Ballard and wife Tammy of Sanger; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A family gathering will be held on Wednesday evening, December 19, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. Online condolences may be made to www. cokerfuneralhome.com.
