Born August 7, 1925 and died August 22, 2018 at the UMH Hilltop, at the age of 93. Bettie is survived by her daughter Arlene Schilling, her son Charles Shilling, and grandson James Detwiler. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Schilling, of Elmira, NY.

She will always be remembered as a loving and good natured wife and mother, and a very capable military wife who could make a move to France with two young children seem easy. Bettie was a Red Cross hospital volunteer in Orleans, France. She was a wonderful neighbor who always included her neighbors in holiday gatherings.

Those who knew her enjoyed her ready smile and sense of humor. People of all ages were drawn to her. Bettie’s memory will always be cherished.

Bettie’s family extends thanks to the staff of United Methodist Homes at Hilltop for the loving care she received while residing there. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 29th, at 10:00am, at the United Methodist Homes Hilltop Chapel, 286 Deyo Hill Road, Johnson City.
