New Lisbon – Betty A. Goodspeed, 89, of New Lisbon passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Fox Memorial Nursing Home. She was born in Davenport Center on September 29, 1928 to Burt and Dora (Schulz) Butler. She graduated from Gilbertsville Central School in 1947.

On August 1, 1948 she married Gordon Goodspeed and they shared 65 years of marriage together before his death in 2013. Betty was a prior member of the Garrattsville Woman’s Auxiliary. She loved to watch and identify birds and work in… Read More » her vegetable and flower gardens.

She was famous for Grandma’s Iced- tea and donuts. Her cookie and candy jars were always full and her door was always open for all her kids, grandkids, great grandkids or whoever to help themselves. She was known as Ma or Grandma to all whether they were family or not.

The Gully will miss her. Betty is survived by her six children; Priscilla (Nick) Ostraco, Lennie (Brenda) Goodspeed, Joey (Cheryl) Goodspeed, Pam (John) Bugyi, Jeff (Dawn) Goodspeed and Craig (Laurie) Goodspeed, 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 4 sisters in law, Eunice Saunders, Anna Butler, Evelyn Butler and Ethel Goodspeed, and numerous nieces and nephews Betty was predeceased by her husband Gordon Goodspeed; her son John Carr Goodspeed; her five brothers; Donald, Louis, Ralph, Earl, Richard Butler, and her sister Margaret Gaughan. Burial will be held privately and at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Cemetery in Otego at a later date.
