Obituary for Betty Alverson Sarah Elizabeth “Betty” Ballew Alverson, 85, widow of Clyde Bernard Alverson, passed away on November 11, 2018. A native of Tryon, NC, daughter of the late Forrest “Rookie” and Essie Mae Pruitt Ballew, she was a retired employee of Delta Airlines, Secretary of Young Life and a former member of Evangel Cathedral. Surviving are three sons, Tony Alverson of Duncan, Mark Alverson (Nell) of Moore and Blake Alverson of Duncan; two daughters, Lea Alverson Hall (Hal) of Spartanburg and Mia Fatool (Brian) of Fort Mill; one brother, James Ballew; one sister, Dotty Edwards; thirteen grandchildren, Alex Alverson, Bailey Fatool, Zeke Fatool, James Hall, Suezanne Hall, Kimberly Hall, Matthew Hall, Thomas Alverson, Emily Alverson, Drew Alverson, Meghan Ward, Brittney Ward and Joshua Ward and two great-grandchildren, Lucius Ward and Lowery Wade.

Mrs. Alverson was predeceased by one brother, Bobby Ballew. Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2018 at The Wood Mortuary conducted Pastor Jan King and Rev. Mark Alverson.

Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 2:30-3:45 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. The families are at their respective homes.
