Obituary for Betty Jane Keenan Portland, ME – Betty J. Keenan, 94, of Portland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Rehab and Residence, Portland, ME. She was born in New Britain, CT on July 6, 1923, the daughter of the late William and Ruth (Dolan) Hopkinson. Raised in Marblehead, MA, she graduated from Marblehead High School with the Class of 1941.

Betty married her high school sweet heart and husband of 72 years Irving B. Keenan, once he returned home from World War II and she dedicated her life to raising her family. She was a longtime member of the Scarborough Free Baptist church and a Brownie leader, who enjoyed sewing, knitting, needle point and traveling. Surviving family members include her daughters, Julie Smart and her husband Stephen of Salem, MA and Diane Sinclair and her husband Larry of North Hampton, NH; 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and Edie White who was close as a granddaughter.
