Obituary for Dr. Alfred L. Arcidi Rye Beach, NH – Dr. Alfred Louis Arcidi, 86, of Christiansted, USVI, and formerly of North Andover, died Wednesday June 6th at his summer home in Rye Beach, surrounded by his loving family. Dr. Alfred L. Arcidi was born in Lawrence, MA on July 3rd, 1931, a son of the late Alfio and Carmela (Simone) Arcidiacono. He was raised in Lawrence and attended Lawrence High School.
Upon graduating from Merrimack College in 1953, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War through 1955. In 1960, Dr. Arcidi earned his Doctorate of Dental Science from the University of Buffalo School of Dentistry. Here he graduated as part of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, a prestigious group consisting of the top students in the dental field.
He developed and sustained a large family dentistry practice in Lawrence, MA. In 1982, Dr. Arcidi founded the Whittier Health Network, a highly successful healthcare organization consisting of multiple facilities spread throughout Massachusetts as well as Eastern New York. The prestigious Whittier Health Network is recognized to provide the highest caliber of comprehensive healthcare services to thousands of patients.
In 2012, he was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Health Sciences by Merrimack College. He was a long-standing member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts as well as the St. Alfio Society. He shared 63 years of marriage with his late wife Laura E (Turrisi) Arcidi and he was also predeceased by his brothers, Louis Arcidy and Michael Arcidiacono.
Family members include three sons, Alfred Arcidi and his wife Mary Louise of Rye Beach, NH, Philip Arcidi and his wife Erica of Christiansted, USVI, Michael Arcidi and his wife Ann Marie of Hampton, NH, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, his brother, Joseph Arcidi of Concord, MA and his sister Dorothy (Arcidiacono) Gangi of Reno, NV. Family and friends may visit from 3:30 to 7:30 PM on Monday, June 11, 2018 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Rd. , Hampton, NH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 AM at the St. Theresa Parish Church, 815 Central Rd. , Rye Beach, NH. Burial will be following the Mass, at approximately 12 Noon, in the West Parish Cemetery, Andover, MA.
