Betty Jean Guess Taylor, age 84, of Elizabethton went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from Signature Health and Rehab Center of Elizabethton. Betty was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Ernest and Gladys Fair Guess. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Walter Frank Taylor; a daughter, Vickey Taylor; and one sister, Ilena Crossno.

Betty was a loving mother and grandmother and was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She retired from East Tennessee Undergarment Company and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, being with her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Barry Taylor and wife Nancy, of Elizabethton and Rick Taylor and wife Sylvia, of Jonesborough; one daughter, Tammy Turbyfill and husband David, of Elizabethton; eight grandchildren, Joshua Munday, Jonathan Munday, Logan Turbyfill, Myra Santana, Rachel Taylor, Jamie Garfield, Jack Buckles and Heather Stevens; eleven great grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Guess and wife Barbara, of Jonesborough and Carl Guess, of Chuckey, Tennessee.

Several nieces and nephews also survive. A celebration of life will be held by the family on Sunday, February 10, 2019, receiving friends from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM at Bible Baptist Church, 1215 Broad Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643, with Reverend Frank Osborne officiating. The family would like to especially thank the doctors and staff of Signature Health and Rehab Center and Amedysis Hospice for the love and care given to Betty during her illness.
