BETTY LOU GENTRY BARTON age 87, formerly of Timberlake, NC died Saturday morning, December 15, 2018 at Person Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Barton was born January 23, 1931 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Aubrey Watkins & Roxanna Buchanan Gentry and was wife of 56 years to the late Charles Anderson Barton, Sr She formerly worked at Fo Acre, was owner along with her husband of W.L. Barton’s Store and Milling Company, was a homemaker, and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and Bible School.

Betty enjoyed collecting antiques, working her flower gardens, fishing, playing horse shoes in her younger days, and she had a great love for her church. Surviving are two children, Debbie B. Cash & husband, Randy, Charles A. “Andy” Barton, Jr. & wife, Ginny all of Timberlake, NC, three grandchildren, Amber Barton Johnson, Calyn Claire Cash, Tiffany Barton Black & husband, T.J., eight great grandchildren, Noah Blake Johnson, Trey Anderson Black, Aubree Faith Black, Lydia Ruth Johnson, Charleigh Catherine Burke, Jenna Ryleigh Black, Casen Cash Edmond Burke, and Easton Barton Gentry Black, two sisters, Fadine Porterfield, Florence “Babe” Perkins, and brother, Bernard Gentry. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Antioch Baptist Church with the Dr. M. David Chambers officiating.

Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of Andy & Jinny Barton, 138 Roby Barton Road, Timberlake, NC. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Barton is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Catherine Christy “Cassie” Cash, three sisters, Rachel Huff, Margaret Hicks, Dorothy Ann Gentry, and brother, Grady Gentry.

Pallbearers will be Reg Carver, Craig Gentry, Jackie Gentry, Danny Hicks, David Huff, and Ray Perkins. Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Choir Fund, 677 Antioch Church Road, Timberlake, NC 27583. Arrangements are by Strickland and Jones Memorial Funeral Services, 1810 Durham, Road, Roxboro, NC 27573.
