Betty Mallard, a long term resident of the Seminary area, died April 16, 2018 in Shubuta, Mississippi. She was born on October 22, 1935 in Bradshaw, West VA. In her younger years, she worked in the restaurant industry.

She also worked at Dixie and Big Yank Reliance in Hattiesburg, MS. The majority of her life was devoted to raising her children in a Christian environment because she loved the Lord. She was a loving wife and dedicated mother.

She was very talented with the gift of singing… Read More » and song writing. She was an amazing person who loved people; always offering a helping hand to someone in need with food, clothing, and prayers. She was a kind caring woman who always had a smile even when life sometimes got tough.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jeff Benjamin Ritchie I; mother, Nannie Lee Ritchie; brother, Jeff Benjamin Ritchie II; sister, Geneva Carol Kindle; sister, Jean Ritchie; son, Jim Dewayne Mallard; and great-grandson, Grayson Kade Carroll. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Mallard, five daughters: Sherrie Curtis (Glenn) of Deland FL. , Terrie Bullock (Terry) of Seminary MS.

, Patricia Southerland (Robert ) of Seminary MS. , Pamela Westbrook (Mark) of Seminary MS. , and Deborah Schweppe (Roger) of Shubuta, MS.

She had 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers: Roger Schweppe, Robert Southerland, Levi Carroll, Darius Hadley, Michael Goldman, and Damion Byrd. Moore Funeral Home is entrusted with her arrangements.

The service will be held at First Baptist Church in Sanford, MS. The visitation will be held April 19, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the service will follow with the cemetery recessional to Bullock Cemetery.
