Obituary for Betty M. Wiser (Reese) Betty M. Wiser, 95, of Julian died Thursday January 10, 2019 at Juniper Village at Brookline, State College. She was born October 31, 1923 in Philipsburg, a daughter of David W. and Jennie V. (Bigelow) Reese. She was twice married first to Harold P. Thompson on August 31, 1945.
He died October 31, 1964. She then was married to Therman W. Wiser on March 29, 1980. He died October 18, 1996.
Surviving are two daughters; Kathryn Shilling and husband Randy of Port Matilda, Frances Price of Roaring Spring, a son, Robert Thompson and wife Michele of Mineral, Virginia, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, three step-daughters; Gloria McNeal of Port Matilda, Marsha Fisk of State College, Joyce Ripka of Bellefonte and a step-son Robert Wiser of Port Matilda. She was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother. Mrs. Wiser retired in 1980 from E.D. Frost Cunstruction, State College as a bookkeeper following 16 years service.
She was a substitute teacher for schools in Virginia and Maryland. She was a member of Port Matilda Lions Club, Halfmoon Grange, Bald Eagle United Methodist Church and a former member of Port Matilda Baptist Church. She was a 1941 graduate of Tyrone High School.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday January 16, 2019 at 11 A.M. at Port Matilda Baptist Church with Rev. Peter Dittman and Rev. Ryan Smith officiating.
Interment will follow at Port Matilda Cemetery. Friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at Feller Memorial Home and on Wednesday at the church from 10 A.M. until the time of services. Memorial gifts may be made to to Mission Board of the Port Matilda Baptist Church, Main St., Port Matilda, Pa.
