Betty J. “Podge” Van Voorhis, age 78, of Massillon, passed away July 28, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center. She was born on March 12, 1940; a daughter of the late Lewis and Margaret Dewalt. She was an LPN at local hospitals and nursing homes, and former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Betty enjoyed crossword puzzles and visiting casinos. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Van Voorhis; her loving daughter Sheryl Van Voorhis; her parents; brother Lewis Dewalt; and sisters Evelyn Dewalt, Marilyn Fichter, Grace (Jen) Slicker. She is survived by brothers Richard and Ronald Dewalt; sister Margaret Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Amherst Meadows, Crossroads and Harbor Lights Hospice for their care and concern for the last several months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either hospice organization. Per Betty’s wishes, there will be no services.
