Beverly Ann Arnold Platt September 28, 1946 – January 12, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Beverly Ann Arnold Platt, 72, of Panama City, Florida passed away on January 12, 2019, of natural causes. Nana…Mom…Bev was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. The graveside funeral service and burial will be held at 10:00am CT on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the family plot in the Westville Cemetery.

Pastor Jack Hankins of Emmaus United Methodist Church will be officiating. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Wilson Funeral Home, Panama City, Florida. Beverly was born the daughter of Jack Pershing Arnold and Annette Windsor Arnold in Marianna, Florida on September 28, 1946.

She was raised in Panama City Beach, Florida at the “Y” with her sister, Betty and brother, Marshall. She graduated from Bay High School in 1964, where she represented Bay County at Girls’ State, received the DAR award and was voted Senior Class Best All Around notable. She was elected Class Officer, Hall of Fame, Homecoming Court, Class Sweetheart and was a leader in numerous other clubs and civic groups.

Beverly was married to her high school sweetheart, Bill Platt, for 41 years until his death on January 1, 2006. She cared for Bill throughout his bout with cancer and persevered, only to be weakened by cancer and other illnesses herself. She was displaced after Hurricane Michael, which took a tremendous toll on her health and well-being.

Beverly worked in the Arnold family business of hotels and cottages on Panama City Beach, Florida and graduated with her Nursing degree from Gulf Coast Junior College in Panama City, Florida. She worked at Bay Medical Center for over 40 years in various nursing, leadership, and management roles, before retiring. She was a former instructor of Nursing at Haney Vo-Tech, and also achieved her Master’s degree from Florida State University in Panama City, Florida.

Beverly was a devout Christian and former Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher in Bay County, Florida, and was supported greatly by Emmaus United Methodist Church in the last 20+ years. Beverly enjoyed antique and doll collecting, was a jewelry connoisseur, and enjoyed sewing, painting, and reading. Her family is blessed to have so many of her possessions and artistic creations to pass down as family heirlooms to the next generations.

Beverly is survived by her children: William Platt, Danette Bodine(Charlie), Raymond Platt(Sara), Douglas Platt, Leeanne Fleming(Robert), Sherman Platt; Grandchildren: Will Platt, Jackson Platt, Austin Platt, Grace Platt, Quint Bodine, Juliana Bodine, Max Platt, Ashlynn Platt, Megan Homer(Ben), Matthew Palmer, Julia Platt, Eliza Platt, Isaac Fleming, Riley Fleming, Wyatt Fleming, Mason Fleming, Molly Fleming, Abram Fleming, Elias Platt, Ezra Platt; Great Grandson: Benning Wamsley; Great Granddaughter: Arabella Homer; her Mother-in-Law, Sue Platt; her siblings, Betty Conlon(John) and Marshall Arnold; beloved cousins Charles Woods and Sarah Adams; and many other cousins, family and friends. A special recognition to Mindi Oliver and Donna Barron for their years of dedication and support to Beverly. Special appreciation to her caregiver, Andrea Williams, in Panama City, Florida for her ongoing care for Beverly over the last few years and her support in her last days.

Beverly is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Platt; daughter, Suzanne Marie Platt; parents, Pershing Arnold and Annette Sherman, and step-father Ralph Sherman. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Emmaus United Methodist Church.
