Sydney’s Obituary Sydney Cowgill, 86, of Panama City Beach, Fla. passed away January 6, 2019. Sydney was born on March 16th, 1932 in Tyler, Texas.

She moved to the beach in the 1950s and alongside her husband, George, she owned and operated many beach businesses including the Mara Vista Motel, the Aztec Room Lounge, the Queen of Donuts, and SeaGull Trailer Park. In her free time, Sydney was an avid fisherman and loved being on the water. Sydney loved to garden and socialize, and was a charter member of the Panama City Beach Garden Club.

She enjoyed playing golf and won many women’s tournaments in the 1960s and 70s. There was no sale Sydney could resist at her favorite department store. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed seeing everything the world had to offer.

Sydney was a loving mother and grandmother to her two children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, George C. Cowgill Jr., her parents, Margaret and Daniel Bowlen, and her brother Daniel Bowlen. Survivors include her children Louis Tate and his wife, Cathy, Francene Purser and her husband, Bill, both of Panama City Beach, Fla.

, grandchildren Carrie Tate of Lynn Haven, Fla. , Pamela Densen and her husband, Seth, of Wellington, Fla. , Niki Runion and her husband, Steve, of Crawfordville, Fla.

, and Micheal Purser of Panama City Beach, Fla. , great-grandchildren Dylan, Kiera, Ava, Hannah, Bentley, and Logan, sister Dale Keyworth of Panama City Beach, Fla. , sister-in-law Kinki Bowlen of Panama City, Fla.

, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. The family will accept guests Saturday, January 12th, 2019 from 1pm to 3pm at Sydney’s residence 6012 Magnolia Beach Road, Unit 803, Panama City Beach, Fl 32408. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Covenant Care Hospice.
